Advanced Klettersteig

The Advanced Klettersteig course, primarily focusses on climbing technique and tactics. With in-depth rope skills training, you can defuse problems in advance. Alpine hazards, weather and orientation are also part of this alpine course. Finally you will meet all the requirements for participation in next years via ferrata instructor course.

Planned daily routine:

The following is a typical schedule with the guide fine tuning the plan according to the prevalling weather conditions and the experience of the group.

DAY 1: Arrive in Salzburg/Austria either by train or flight. Train ride from Salzburg central station to Schladming (hourly Intercity train direction Graz). From here to take local bus 960 to get to Ramsau main square. From here you take a short taxi ride to the 4* Bio Hotel Feistererhof in Ramsau. Meet your guide. After dinner preview of the acitivities/routes for the whole week.

DAYS 02 - 06: THE FOLLOWING COURSE CONTENTS WILL BE TAUGHT IN CONSULTATION WITH THE PARTICIPANTS:

- Tour planning and realisation
- Climbing technique and tactics
- Orientation, working with the topo, apps, meteorology and alpine hazards
- Leading groups, group dynamic processes
- Emergency management on the via ferrata
- Independent and safe climbing of via ferratas in grade c as well as short climbing passages or key sections in grade D can be mastered alone
- First experience with additional belay of difficult sections and/or children
- Knots: overhand knot, figure of eight knot, munter hitch, girth hitch
- Nature and environment, gear and equipment
- Organization, basic law and insurance questions
- Reflection on the week

DAY 7: Farewell around 9 o clock, transfer by bus/train to Salzburg Central Train Station or Salzburg Airport.

In the evening there will be theoretical units on various topics like orientation, how to read maps and topos, how to use apps, alpine dangers and alpine weather.

Complete Via Ferrata equipment set (incl. via ferrata set, harness, modern helmet, carabiner): EUR 150/6 days

Additionally, he will provide belaying material (10 - 15 m rope, HMS carabiners, tape slings, ball lock) for free.
